This workshop deepens therapists’ awareness of current understanding of nervous system functioning, trauma patterning, and attachment theory. This new understanding provides evidence-based support for Dee Wagner’s polyvagal-informed partner practices—one of which is in Miller and Beeson’s The Neuroeducational Toolbox. These somatic movement practices have been further developed by Caroline Gebhardt focusing on early relational nourishment. Better understanding of both matching and mismatching interactions supports symbolic redos of multigenerational relational patterns. When helpers are able to know when and how to apply partner practices, clients discover healthier patterns of living and relating to others.
Caroline Gebhardt, LPC, RYT, RSME/T is a psychotherapist, a Chi for Two® embodiment coach, yoga teacher and Somatic Movement Educator/Therapist with ISMETA. To integrate her 20+ years of experience as a movement educator as well as training under dance therapist Dee Wagner, specifically related to developmental movement and nervous system science, Caroline created M-Bodied: Mindful Movement as Mothering Medicine®, focusing on early relational Chi for Two practices for individuals and families.
Dee Wagner, LPC, BC-DMT, RSME, has worked for 30 years as a licensed professional counselor and dance/movement therapist. She has articles in professional and popular journals as well as podcast interviews, all on various aspects of Porges' polyvagal theory. Her article “Polyvagal Theory in Practice” from the 2016 Counseling Today continues to draw appreciation. Her “Map” of nervous system science as well as the Chi for Two® partner practice Push are part of Miller and Beeson's 2021 book The Neuroeducational Toolbox.
